Haute on the Ranch: Exclusively Designed Devereaux Gold Rings Rooted in Purpose

It was a dreamy September day in 2016 – soft sunlight like a spotlight on the event; gentle breeze swaying the grasses under guests’ feet; blue skies as far as the eye could see. Forget rain being good luck on your wedding day. This is the kind of weather every engaged woman prays for.

When Savannah Sevens founder Ryley Wimer married the love of her life, Michael, the perfect forecast was just an added bonus to the ceremony they so thoughtfully planned. From holding the wedding on her in-laws’ property to exchanging vows underneath an arbor her father built, their big day was filled with meaningful gestures emphasizing the importance of faith and family in their lives.

Before the traditional kiss, Ryley and Michael did something unique to symbolize keeping God intertwined in their marriage. Derived from a favorite Ecclesiastes verse, “A cord of three strands is not easily broken,” together they braided a large rope cross Ryley’s father made as a reminder that if they work together with the Lord woven into their union, they can make it through anything.

Fast forward almost 10 years later and this powerful moment during their wedding has inspired the artistry of our next exclusive collaboration. We’re excited to share that Dallas-based fine jewelry designer Devereaux Gold is the newest addition to our content series “Trailblazing the West,” which spotlights individuals, families and heritage brands with a pioneering spirit and time-honored values. Through this distinct partnership, together we’ve created two custom rings with a story, with a purpose and with unmatched craftsmanship.

For The Working Woman

The prongs on Ryley’s wedding ring started to wear down last year, so she began taking it off to ride and chore for fear of losing the diamond. In addition to it being difficult to slide off and on, having a bare ring finger isn’t a feeling she likes.

As Ryley contemplated a temporary band until her real one could be fixed, she thought about the other riders and farm and ranch wives in the same predicament – wondering what to wear during all the daily tasks in order to protect the jewelry they cherish most.

A lightbulb moment happened. Recently, Savannah Sevens started carrying Dallas-based fine jewelry brand Devereaux Gold. The pieces are timeless with hints of western heritage. The quality and sparkle lend them to elevated and elegant looks while their subtle, dainty nature allows them to be paired with everyday wear. Ryley knew owner Lauren Devereaux would be the perfect partner.

An Idea Takes Shape

“From the beginning of our initial collaboration, Lauren gave us the chance to create our own Savannah Sevens by Devereaux Gold line,” said Ryley. “We wanted it to be unique, intentional and something that truly resonates with me personally as well as the Savannah Sevens customer.”

Ryley continues, ”We started by carrying the western styles Lauren had already created allowing time for our ideas and custom designs to develop. I knew teaming up with Lauren would be the perfect way to find a solution for working women and preserving their wedding rings.”

“A cord of three strands is not easily broken” became the inspiration with both ring designs featuring a three-band style. Ryley knew one concept had to have turquoise, which is a stone that truly speaks to a cowgirl’s heart. The other design would feature a milgrain technique, derived from Ryley’s own wedding band and suggesting a soft ruggedness to the ring’s radiance.

Because the jewelry would be a substitute for women’s wedding rings, the creations would also need to have functionality. Between the pavé setting on one and the bezel setting on the other, the diamonds and turquoise are protected from getting caught, bent or weakened when staying active or working with your hands.

Quality Is Paramount

As a former employee of Signet Jewelers, the world’s largest retailer of diamond jewelry, and a descendant of a silversmith, Lauren Devereaux is devoted to maintaining a standard in both quality and design with her jewelry.

The two pieces created for Savannah Sevens can be purchased in 10K and 14K white or yellow gold. One features lab-grown diamonds, and the other is set with real diamonds, both exquisite in caliber. And the turquoise maintains a southwest U.S. origin.

“It was important for these rings to be made with high-quality diamonds and precious metals. Plated or alternate metals will never hold up to the lifestyle of a woman with cowgirl grit,” said Ryley. “Only the highest standards will do for something that represents the special union of marriage.”

The Perfect Addition

Along with being worn as an elevated, everyday style in place of a traditional wedding ring, these two new designs have a variety of purposes. They can be gifted by a husband as an eternity ring to mark a major milestone, such as the birth of a child or an anniversary. They can be worn on any finger to compliment other fine jewelry. And the milgrain ring was made to stack comfortably and beautifully with any other ring.

“I plan to wear mine every day this summer in place of my wedding ring, especially while riding,” said Ryley.
