Haute on the Ranch: 3 Ways We’re Styling Our New Capsule Cowboy Hat Collection

It’s one of the most iconic symbols of western culture: the cowboy hat. From its functional purpose of protecting the wearer from outdoor elements to its fashion statement, capping off any outfit with traditional or trendy style, the cowboy hat has been a staple accessory since the 1800’s and its current level of popularity is at an all time high.

When John B. Stetson manufactured what is known as the first modern American cowboy hat, it was designed with a circular flat brim and smooth rounded crown. Over the years, it has taken on a few different shapes and today, includes new features and customizations such as unique colors, fancy hat bands, burning and branding.

Savannah Sevens knows just how much character a cowboy hat brings to a look and we’re excited to announce we’ve added a new Capsule Cowboy Hat Collection to our product line. These wool beauties are from Nashville retailer Premonition Goods, designed locally and handmade in Portugal. Currently, you can shop eight different colors like soft pink, whiskey and onyx, and three styles: flat brim, pencil brim and retro rolled brim.

When you put on one of these hats, you can immediately tell just how special they are. The colors are rich and vibrant; the rugged leather band is classically simple; and the wool is premium, yet a low-impact material. Savannah 7s is the only retailer outside of Music City to carry these trendy toppers, which we consider a feather in our cap!

While the cowboy hat is universal to western fashion, knowing how to style it is not always a simple task. We’ve put on our thinking caps and created three looks around hats from the collection to help bring you new ideas of how to make this cowboy classic rise to the top.

Blanc Porter | Classic • Chic • Universal

What a classic beauty! Because of the Blanc Porter’s soft neutral color and traditional cattleman crown with a rolled brim, you can wear it for so many different occasions. Top off your country concert fit, shade yourself during those warm rodeo days, or mix it with laidback looks on your next vacation. This is your universal, go-to cowboy hat when you want to represent the western culture you love!

We utilized the Blanc Porter in an elevated casual way. We paired it with a feminine floral top, on-trend wide leg jean, and leather wedges. This is a look typical of summer style and shows just how easy this hat can complete any outfit.

Shop the look: The Roma Top, The Cayce High Rise 90’s Wide Leg Jean, The Barlow Tote, and The Ponderay Wedge.

Big Sky | Playful • Free Spirited • Coastal

This girl has personality and isn’t afraid to show it! The Big Sky’s whimsical sky blue shade is perfect for making a statement, without being over exaggerated. It provides a pop of color to your fit with just the right amount of character and charm. If you love the Coastal Cowgirl craze, the Big Sky fits the bill pairing well with white and giving off those easy, breezy beachy vibes.

We styled the Big Sky cowboy hat with a relaxed, gauzy top, denim with a letdown hem, a fringe bag and gorgeous turquoise. This provides a balanced mix of western with west coast.

Shop the look: The Bellingham Top, The Colter Perfect Rise Trouser Jean, Langston Belt, Portola Buckle {restock coming soon}, The Pate Wedge, and The Sonora Crossbody.

Bone Colt | Boho • Trendy • Casual

This has Lainey Wilson written all over it! The Bone Colt’s teardrop crown and flat wide brim provide a bohemian western look while its neutral color allows for relaxed styling. This is the type of hat that can be dressed up or down: go full-on 70’s country or simply everyday casual. Another suggestion that works? Denim on denim!

We started this look with a laidback foundation through the oversized button up top and denim shorts. Then we allowed the accessories to do the talking.. We love how the Bone Colt paired with those gorgeous off-white snip toe boots. And the concho belt – a mix of southwestern and boho style – pulled it all together.

Shop the look: The Inola Top, The Wade Shorts, The Huron Belt, and The Terlingua Boots.

About Premonition Goods

Nashville natives and highschool sweethearts Cameron and Hunter Premo established their online mercantile Premonition Goods in 2021. Both creatives – Cameron is a photographer and Hunter is a fashion and lifestyle influencer – they wanted to build a business that is a legacy for their children Remy and Radnor.

The inspiration behind Premonition Goods is offering merchandise that are heritage pieces – ones that tell a story and can be passed between generations. The hat line is the spark that ignited their business; but they made sure to take the time needed to thoughtfully seek out a quality artisan. Designed in Nashville and handmade in a small factory in Portugal, the hats are constructed from high quality, low-impact wool that is 100% natural, renewable, and biodegradable.

Savannah 7s has been a fan of these hats from the moment we discovered them. We first selected two styles to be featured in our 2024 Spring/Summer photoshoot and shortly after, collaborated with Cameron and Hunter to carry the line.
