Haute on the Ranch: Smart Styling for the NFR
It’s the trip you’ve been looking forward to all year long – the National Finals Rodeo! Known as the Super Bowl of its sport, the NFR brings the western world together in Las Vegas for intense competition, nightly celebrations and of course, a full display of fashion.
Whether you’re an NFR veteran or are making your first appearance, Savannah Sevens has compiled our first-hand knowledge of the event and the city to provide you with helpful tips to make your experience uncomplicated and unforgettable. In our five-part NFR Insider Series, Savannah 7s will cover wardrobe and packing, travel/transportation, budget, shopping and Vegas hotspots.
In this edition of Haute on the Ranch, we focus on our favorite subject: fashion! After you’ve shopped the site and put your outfits together, explore our advice for Smart Styling for the NFR.
Be Rodeo Ready When The Wheels Touch Down
None of us have ever wanted to be the person standing at baggage claim watching the conveyor belt go round and round without our luggage ever appearing. But it does happen.
The last thing you want to have to do after landing in Vegas is scramble to replace all your essentials and search for a new NFR fit. Always pack your first night’s look and must-have beauty items in your carry-on. That way, if your checked bag does get lost, you won’t be crying tears in your beer at the hotel bar.
Make Your Favorite Fit Your First Fit
When you’re planning each night’s NFR style, something to consider is wearing your favorite outfit early on during your trip. Think back to each vacation you’ve taken – usually your energy and excitement are at their peak within the first few days. When you’re nearing the end, exhaustion has likely set in and you don’t have the same desire to get dressed up or go to a scheduled event.
The NFR is such an electric atmosphere, but trust us, more than a few days in Vegas will do anyone in. So plan those magical, one-of-a-kind fashion moments for the start of your trip. That way, if you end up getting room service and watching the rodeo in your bath robe on night four, your Insta feed will already be full and you can just relax.
Are Those Boots Made for Walking?
This tip is more of a reminder than some deeply profound advice. It’s easy to get caught up in making the Las Vegas Strip your personal runway, but darlin’, those dogs are gonna be barking, we promise!
Please {please, please} pack comfy shoes. During the day, you’ll be sightseeing and walking all around the tradeshows. Save your boots, booties and heels for the fun at night. Happy feet equals a happy time!
Own Your Own Style
Fashion should be fun, so it’s always a good idea to mix in a few current trends with your personal taste. However, you never want to be so far out of your comfort zone that your fit keeps you from having an enjoyable time.
When you dress for the NFR, own your style. It’s truly exciting to see everyone’s different take on western fashion, so be yourself! Before you leave, try your looks on at home and fall in love with what you’ll be wearing. We promise, confidence is key to you having the best time you’ve ever had in the city with boots on!
