Trailblazing the West: Designer's Brew x Savannah 7s Furniture Collection

Savannah Sevens is entering a new frontier. For the first time ever, a furniture collection will be a part of our product offerings and the partner on this pioneering project is October’s Trailblazing the West collaborator.

Oklahoma-based interior design firm Designer’s Brew and its founder Brett McPherson have been working with Savannah 7s owner Ryley Wimer for several months on creating the perfect home furnishings that speak to both brands’ western-loving customers. From selecting the shape and style to thoughtfully picking out fabrics, colors and hardware {and even naming each piece after famous Quarter Horses}, no detail has been spared.

The idea to collaborate on a furniture line first came when Ryley was wanting to renovate the Savannah 7s styling studio. She had followed Brett’s work on social media for years and believed her esthetic was well-suited for the vision she had of the space. Brett was equally a fan of Savannah 7s and after she was approached with the project and learned more about Ryley, she got the idea to turn what would be a regular design job into an incredible new venture that is truly trailblazing.

“I had listened to a couple of podcast interviews Ryley had given and felt like we were very similar in our work ethic and family life. She’s one of those people that after we initially spoke, we hit it off immediately,” said Brett. “The more I learned from Ryley about the importance of quality when serving her customers and providing them with an experience they can’t get anywhere else, I just knew we couldn’t go to a big-box store and order furniture. I suggested working on custom pieces and then got the wild idea to collaborate on a full line.”

Brett invited Ryley to travel with her to North Carolina – the hub of American-made furniture. The two met with Old Hickory Tannery, a 50-year-old furniture manufacturer based in the small town of Newton. What Brett and Ryley dreamed up were high-end furnishings inspired by western culture that could timelessly live with generations of a family.

“The same things that draw me to apparel, footwear and accessories also attracted me when creating this line – merging design elements that have traditional western roots with edgy characteristics and forward-thinking style,” said Ryley. “These pieces also have been created to tie well with one another and blend with items already in your home. The furniture collection has elevated and luxurious details, and it’s heirloom quality – western couture for the ranch.”

Meet Brett McPherson

Originally from a small town in Oklahoma, Brett McPherson started dreaming about her creative future even before her teenage years.
The daughter of a rancher and a teacher, Brett remembers first hearing the term “interior designer” in the fifth grade from one of her classmates. She was intrigued by the concept and it never left her.
A graduate of the interior design program at Oklahoma State University, Brett has now been artfully styling spaces for close to 20 years. She established her own design firm, Designer’s Brew, in 2007 focusing on residential and small commercial projects.

“My absolute favorite part of the design process is getting to know the clients,” said Brett. “I enjoy learning about them and their families, and what makes them happy. The best projects are when I really get to bring out the characteristics of the owner.”

Brett has won numerous awards in Oklahoma for her design work, including six first-place finishes in the Edmond Parade of Homes. One of her specialties when helping clients create spaces either in new construction or renovation, is conceptualizing custom furniture pieces. She has all of the individual furnishings made at a manufacturer in North Carolina, which is where she took Ryley when collaborating on the Designer’s Brew x Savannah 7s line.

“Ryley and I are so pleased with how every single detail worked out in this collection,” said Brett. “The line screams western luxury – classy and timeless, and yet cool and edgy. It is our hope you love them too so we can do it all over again!”

Brett is married to builder Trey McPherson with whom she often partners on projects. Together they have three children: Blaynee, Sundee, and Robert.
